  1. Reduce the impact of direct persecution of birds of prey in SW Bulgaria
  2. Reduce the impact of indirect threats on birds of prey in SW Bulgaria
  3. Restore the populations of species emblematic for the area
  4. Maintain and enhance the habitat for birds of prey, reptiles and mammals in Natura 2000 site designated for these species
  5. Create positive attitudes to birds of prey in key audiences
  • Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus)
  • Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus)
  • Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus)
  • Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos)
  • Lanner falcon (Falco biarmicus)
  • Wolf (Canis lupus)
  • Greek Tortoise (Testudo greaca) and Herman Tortoise (Testudo hermanni)
  • Release and tracking of Griffon Vultures
  • Establishing of a model extensive livestock farm in Kresna Gorge
  • Establishing of three municipal carcass disposal sites to serve as feeding sites for vultures in Kresna SPA
  • Guarding dogs provision to shepherds and support
  • Compensation and prevention programme for depredated livestock
  • Artificial nests construction for target birds of prey species and their prey species
  • Establishing of captive breeding facility for vultures in Kresna Gorge
  • Tortoise sanctuary
