PROVEN!!! The Balck Vulture in Kotel Mountain is the same specimen from Kresna Gorge observed in the beginning of May 2015.

The Black Vulture that appeared at FWFF’s vulture feeding site in Kotel Mountain (maintained within the LIFE08 NAT/BG/278 project) and is still there, is the same specimen that was present between 5-th and 13-th May 2015 at FWFF’s vulture feeding site in Kresna Gorge (maintained within the LIFE11 NAT/BG363 project).

This became evident, after finally we succeed to take picture of the bird near Kotel spreading wings. We compared the signs of the feathers according to “visual marking” method and found out the matches. See the pictures attached. The “visual marking method” is developed by the FWFF team and is published in 2014* and 2015**.

Also we are delighted to show the first ever picture of the three species of vultures – Griffon, Black and Egyptian made in Kotel Mountain. We accept congratulations, because we would not be shy this time and consider this is a success of FWFF and a present for its 15 anniversary. The three species were extinct from the area for few decades now and were only present at the Regional Natural History Museum of Kotel.
