Livestock depredation in Kresna Gorge

The man-wolf conflict is usually on a rise in spring. FWFF team was alarmed today for the death of 21 sheep and lambs, killed by wolves, in a nearby farm.

Although the farm is located in a very busy area, very close to the highway, wolves entered the buildings, where no dogs were at that time. In the beginning the location of the farm made us skeptical that the attack was from wolves, but after looking carefully at the corpses, there was no longer any doubt.

The carcass was delivered to the supplementary feeding site for vultures in Kresna Gorge. To remind that wolf’s attacks on livestock in the area is provoked by lacking of enough natural food. FWFF is working hard to reintroduce Fallow deer in Kresna Gorge. We support and keep on training farmers to prevent predators’ attacks over the livestock.
