About us

Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna/FWFF was established in 2000 to launch an IDEA for conservation and reintroduction of vultures in the Balkans.

In the end of XX century, some of to-be FWFF founders, as a part of Birdlife Bulgaria, spent much time and efforts to enhance vultures’ population in Eastern Rodopi. Later on, in the rise of XXI century we witnessed vanishing griffon vultures’ colonies in Macedonia and Greece. FWFF possesses the last video of the last Bearded vulture individual survived on terrestrial Balkans until 2001.

FWFF holistic management of vultures’ reintroduction projects includes provisional subprojects for preparation of reintroduction regions, prevention of threats, and regeneration of grasslands.
